Product Markings

WaterSense Certification Mark: The U.S. EPA WaterSense certification mark indicates that a product has been independently certified to meet WaterSense criteria for water efficiency and performance. The WaterSense label must be displayed on the product’s packaging with the name of the specific certification body substituted for the text in the brackets underneath the circle. Participation in the WaterSense program is voluntary.

ASSE Mark: Symbol applied to products indicating compliance with a denoted American Society of Sanitary Engineering (ASSE) standard. The particular standard is marked beneath the ASSE text within the circle.

CSA Certification Mark: A Canadian Standards Association (CSA) mark with the indicator "US" or "NRTL" means that the product is certified for the U.S. market to the applicable U.S. standards. A CSA mark with the indicators "C" and "US" or "NRTL/C" means that the product is certified for both the U.S. and Canadian markets, to the applicable U.S. and Canadian standards. They signify that a CSA-accredited testing laboratory has evaluated a sample of the product and determined that it complies with applicable national standards.

EEV Mark: The energy efficiency verification (EEV) marking means that a product complies with CSA standards for energy efficiency and performance. For details see the Energy Efficiency Verification Service.

IAPMO R&T Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) Certification Mark: The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO R&T) Shield is applied to products that are certified by IAPMO as complying with BOTH the product’s performance standard AND the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC). Applies to all plumbing products, appliances, pipe, fixtures, valves and related products.

IAPMO R&T Trailer, Manufactured Housing and Recreational Vehicle Certification Mark: Recognizes products that comply with IAPMO’s MHRV product’s performance standard. Applies to all manufactured housing and recreational vehicle products.

IAPMO R&T Materials & Components Certification Mark: Recognizes product materials and/or components that comply with applicable sections of the product’s performance standard. Applies to all materials and components.

IAPMO R&T Classified Marking Certification Mark: Recognizes products that comply with only the product’s performance standard BUT NOT recognized by the UPC. Applies to all classified plumbing systems, components and related products.

ICC-ES PMG Listing Mark: ICC-ES Plumbing Mechanical and Fuel Gas (PMG) listings are issued to products that comply with applicable standards and codes. After the PMG listing has been issued, ongoing inspections at the manufacturer’s site will ensure that the quality of the product that receives an ICC-ES PMG listing remains consistent.

NSF Certified Product Marks: NSF Certified Product Marks include the regular Mark or an optional “Independently Certified” Marking. cNSFus Mark indicates product is certified to both Canadian and U.S. requirements. U.P.Code indicated a product is certified to the Uniform Plumbing Code. When it is necessary to explain details regarding a certification (such as the applicable standard), a rectangular box can be placed below the certification mark.

NSF 14 Standard Certification Mark: Plastic pipe and fittings listed to NSF/ANSI Standard 14 are certified with an end use () indicator: 
pw: potable water, 
dwv: drain, waste, vent, 
rfh: radiant floor heating
, wc: well casing, 
rc: reclaimed water
, gas: pressurized gas
, sewer: sewer, 
se: special engineered specification

NSF Annex G Marks: These Marks indicate certification to NSF/ANSI 61 including Annex G which provides additional provisions to limit the weighted lead content of wetted component surfaces to no more than 0.25% lead for certain plumbing products.

UL Recognized Component Mark: The Component Recognition marking is found on a wide range of products, including some switches, power supplies, printed wiring boards, some kinds of industrial control equipment and thousands of other products. Products intended for Canada carry the Recognized Component mark "C."

UL Plumbing Mark:. Products displaying the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Plumbing Mark have been evaluated to all applicable nationally recognized health effect and performance standards, and have demonstrated compliance with both the IPC and UPC plumbing installation codes.

UL Safety Mark: The UL Safety mark confirms that the product is certified for both the U.S. and Canadian markets, to the applicable U.S. and Canadian safety standards respectively.

UL Water Quality Mark: The UL Water Quality mark confirms that the product is certified to a standard covering drinking water health effects requirements for the U.S. and Canadian markets.

WQA Certification Marks: The Water Quality Association (WQA) provides certification of compliance to various plumbing standards such as ASME A112.18.1 and NSF 61. Products bearing the WQA Certification Mark have been tested and certified as complying with specific standards by WQA.
