Executive:

  • Completion of successful 2014 Spring Conference with 10 First time attendees, 1 Prospective Member
  • PMI Executive Fly-in consensus established with the American Supply Association (ASA)
  • Provided Denver Water with critical feedback on their proposed water efficiency legislation for Colorado; followed up with submission of written testimony for the legislative hearings stating PMI’s official position
  • Successful outreach to International Code Council (ICC)- meeting set for April
  • CEO/Executive Director, Barbara C. Higgens quoted in SNAP-Greensource the ‘magazine of sustainable design’ on PMI’s involvement in shaping the new lead laws
  • Signed an memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) at the 2014 Spring Conference

Advocacy/Outreach:

  • Identified 12 states suffering from drought conditions to target with retrofit message; social media campaign launched along with direct focus of letters to key officials
  • PMI written article on PILC to appear in Contractor Magazine
  • PMI written article on the need for retrofits to ease the strain of droughts and aging infrastructure to appear in both WQP and HVAC/Plumbing Product News
  • PMI written article on the new Lead Law and PMI’s involvement appeared in HVAC/P magazine
  • Launched the official start of website revamp for both www.pmihome.org and www.safeplumbing.org
  • Confirmed more than 320 downloads of the PMI mobile app
  • Completed a historical timeline of plumbing and PMI’s impact on the industry

Technical:

  • PMI members unanimously agreed that the PERC II test program was important enough to fund and would add to the needed research information for our top priority project
  • With continued encouragement from PMI, Broward County has followed suit with Miami-Dade and will now accept products compliant with the levels set in their regulations OR that are WaterSense certified
  • Created an Overview of the Codes and Standards Workshop to emphasize the benefits of this training and who can benefit from completing this course
  • Submitted a letter of support for early replacement/early retirement of older, inefficient plumbing products to the California policymakers to reduce their state’s water use
  • Launched a plumbing industry Risk Assessment for PMI members to track current issues and rank order them within each company
  • With the help of Jerry Desmond, our California lobbyist, continued dialogue with CEC staff and provided additional input into the current CEC rulemaking to support our position
