1st Quarter Highlights

  • Created an Executive Audio Summary of Advocacy/Government Affairs Committee Meetings posted to a private youtube.com channel and in PMI’s Inside My PMI and Members Only section of the website
  • 33 Members renewed dues for 2015, including: 27 Manufacturing Members and 6 Allied Members
  • In the absence of requested information from member company executives, PMI purchased a report confirming PMI members employ 27,205 employees equaling 62.5% of US plumbing manufacturing workforce, to enhance advocacy efforts
  • Launched a #WhyPlumbingMatters campaign on social media and in printed press including the 10 Reasons Plumbing Matters; resulted in 12 industry news stories, 677 website views during March (second highest after home page); nearly 3,000 views on the wire release; and member participation from American Standard, Bradley, Delta Faucet, Fluidmaster, Kohler, KWC, Moen, Sloan, and allies AWE and CIPH
  • Distributed news releases via state, regional and national wire services and via email to reporters covering water issues to expose media outside of the plumbing industry to PMI’s messages; releases have been viewed 9,832 times and resulted in 98 website hits during the first quarter of 2015
  • Expanded the posting of content about PMI members and allies on the website, primarily in the “Join the Discussion” section of www.safeplumbing.org
  • Created an Allied Member Committee and named a Chair to serve as a liaison between Allied Members and the PMI Board of Directors
  • PMI Technical Director attended the 2015 ISH Conference; visited with all members at the conference (12 total), met with potential new members, and identified industry trends
  • Worked with Federal Government Affairs Consultant to prepare a presentation for the EPA’s Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act Meeting/Webinar to be held in April
  • Working with PMI California Task Group and Tech Team to submit comments on proposed regulations that would significantly revise the Prop 65 warning requirements, requiring certain chemicals (including lead and hex chrome) to be named, specific symbols, and mandatory wording

  • Congressional Briefing in D.C. to be hosted by PMI in conjunction with the Plumbing Industry Leadership Group (PILC); PMI’s Barbara C. Higgens will be a presenter at the briefing: April 13
  • Scheduled the PMI CEO/Executive Fly-ins: California May 6 and D.C. September 15-16
  • PMI Annual Conference: October 26-29, set agenda and speakers
